The key to paranoia about DEI??

Sometimes trump reveals a truth while lying.

Something trump just said in in his godawful speech on the DC crash reveals the absolutely profound misunderstanding people have about DEI.

"The FAA website states they include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism ALL QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION" of a controller of airplanes pouring into our country … pouring into a little spot, a little on the map, little runway. " (emphasis added).

I doubt the website actually said that--the page is eliminated--, but even if it DID list those as disabilities they would consider under DEI guidelines it doesn't say that "psychiatric disability" QUALIFIES you to be an Air Traffic Controller. It just says this doesn't DISQUALIFY you. There are LOTS of other qualifications you need.

Obviously the FAA hires more than Air Traffic Controllers. If in looking at the job of, I dunno, data entry person, it is perfectly sensible to say that controlled bipolar disorder, for example, doesn't necessarily disqualify if you are a super data entry person. And it's hard to see why an amputee can't be an actual Air Traffic Controller.

That should be SO OBVIOUS. And way too many people don't get it.

He is wrong, btw, about him making changes last term than Biden changed. Reports are that the Wayback Machine shows that the DEI requirements first went up in 2013 and were in effect all through his presidency, verbatim.

The main missing extremity missing in trump is the brain that is supposed to be inside his skull.
