On why George Clooney is an abject idiot

I did some fact checking. He's left out rather a lot of relevant detail.

For those of you who are distressed by Clooney's fact free op ed on the topic of "This is about age. Nothing more."

These are some facts.

I've looked at the Presidential calendar for June.  The only fundraiser I can see is called "campaign reception" at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles at 7:15 Local time. (10:15 East Coast time.)  That was June 15. The picture is from the next day before Biden went back to Washington.

***Let's take a look at what the President was doing for the 11 days before the reception*** This is about the length of time that Biden was “back from G7” before the debate, so I chose to look back to what Biden was doing before the fundraiser.

1. JUNE 4. After a briefing on the border and hosting the White House Congressional Picnic, he Departs for France at 8:10 PM.

2. JUNE 5. He arrives in Paris at 3:35 AM (9:35 local) He gets his daily brief

3. JUNE  6. Thursday

   • He leaves for Normandy at 2:25 AM his time.  Presumably he got some sleep. This was 8:15 local.  (From now on the times are local to where he is. I'm going to assume he has conquered any jet lag from the trip, by June 6, though I have no evidence that he did. I just myself do way better eastbound than westbound) 

   • He gets to Normandy at 9:25 AM

   • He immediately (9:35) leaves on a plane for the Normandy American Cemetery,

   • He gets to the Cemetery landing zone at 9:50.  A short hop from Normandy

   • 11:15 participates in a greet with veterans (we saw the cheap-fake of this.)

   • 12:30 Delivers remarks at the D-Day Commemoration Ceremony (remember, this is 6:30 AM his time)

   • 2 PM  The Wreathe Laying Ceremony

   • 3:45 PM Leave for Omaha Beach and gets there at 3:55

   • 4: PM  At the D Day Celebration there

   • Between the Ceremony and arriving at the Caen airport to leave to go back to Paris he makes 3 stops to change planes

   • 6:05 PM--leave for Paris

   • 6:50 get to Paris (not the hotel, the airport)

• JUNE 7 Friday

  • 10 AM gets Daily Brief

  • 12 :15 PM  Meets with Zelensky

  • 1:35 Goes back to Normandy and after 3 plane changes

  • 3:40 PM arrives at Pointe du Hoc

  • 4 PM  delivers remarks on legacy of Pointe du Hoc

  • 4:45  Leaves  to go back to Paris--another 3 plane changes

  • 5:40 Plane leaves for Paris

  • 6:25 PM arrives Paris

• June 8  (Saturday)

  • 10 AM gets local Brief

  • 12:10 Leaves for Arc de Triomphe

  • 1:20  Participates in a parade to the Elysée Palace

  • 2 PM  Business lunch with Macron

  • 3:45 Delivers remarks to press with Macron

  • 4:15  Leaves Elysée Palace

  • 6:15 Goes back to Elysée Palace

  • 7 PM  State Dinner, giving a toast at 7:30

  • 10:40 Leave to go back to Hotel

• June 9, Sunday

  • 10: AM  Gets the Daily Brief

  • 3:05 PM  leaves Paris for Belleau

  • 3:35 gets to Belleau  There is a ceremony at Aisne Marne

  • 4:40 leaves to fly back to Paris

  • 5:20 Arrive in Paris

  • 5:30 Leave for Philadelphia (This is 11:30 AM East Coast Time  enroute there is something called  Supplemental Pool Call Time

  • 7:20 PM Eastern Time arrive in Philadelphia.  So about an 8 hour flight. Not sure what took so long.

  • 7:30 PM leave for Wilmington Delaware and get there at 7:45

• June 10, Monday

  • After 10 AM briefing, morning in Wilmington,.

  • 3PM Pool Call Time

  • 3:35  more Pool Call Time

  • 4:55 to 6:05  Travel back to the White House

  • 7:15 Hosts a Juneteenth Concert and delivers remarks

• June 11, Tuesday  HEY, things are slowing down

  • 10 AM daily briefing

  • 12 PM Lunch with VP

  • 1:30 Delivers remarks at Everytown's Gun Sense University

  • 2:25 Gets back to the White House

  • 3:50 Gets back to Wilmington

• June 12

  • Day starts at 5:45 AM with Supplemental Pool Call and Daily Briefing

  • 7:35 AM leaves Wilmington to start new overseas trip

  • 8:35 AM Leaves for Brindisi, Italy

  • 4:45 PM Arrives in Brindisi (10:45 PM local time) 

  •     Back to using local Italian Time

  • 10:55 PM leaves Brindisi for Fasano

  • 11:55 PM gets to Hotel in Fasano

• June 13

  • 9 AM gets Daily Briefing

  • 10:40 AM Leaves for Borgo Egnazia

  • 10:50 Meets with Prime Minister Meloni. Then a group photo of G7 leaders

  • 11:15 Working Session I of G7

  • 12:35 PM Working Session II of G7

  • 2:25 PM  Working Session IIIA of G7

  • 3:25 PM  Working Sesson IIIB of G7

  • 5 PM  Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment Event

  • 6:05  views skydiving (the other Cheap Fake we saw)

  • 7:45 Signs Bilateral security agreement with Ukraine and hold press conference with Zelensky

• June 14  (The Dates on the Calendar appear to be East Coast Time, so I will add 6 hours to what the official Calendar says)

  • 6: AM  Daily Briefing

  • 9:30 AM, Working Session IV of G7

  • 10: 15  Bilateral Meeting with Meloni

  • 11:30 AM Working Session V of G7

  • 2 PM Working Session VI of G7

  • 3:30 PM.  Photo session with Pope Francis and meeting with Pope Francis

  • 6:45  Closing Session of G7

  • 11:40 PM  Leaves Italy to go back to US

• June 15  Back to East Coast Time

  • 3:20 AM  Arrives in US

  • 4:50 AM Leaves DC for Los Angeles

  • 6:30 Local, 9:30 Pacific--Arrives in LA

  • A WHOLE 12 HOURS Off

  • 7:15  the campaign event at which Clooney says he looks very bad.

Dear Mr. Clooney.  What about this period of 11 days says "This is about age nothing more?"  You are 63. You'd be bright and chipper after this, RIGHT?.  So that's when I'd try to sell you a bridge I've got.

In fact I think Clooney knew perfectly well on the 15th about jet lag and exhaustion and possibly the cold.  He's just developed selective amnesia about it.

I’ve pointed out that what you “see with your own eyes” is interpreted through your experiences of similar situation. Looks like it works in memory, too.
